To identify individuals' data needs, we need an indication of how participants feel their data are handled by the investigator and how they interpret the questionnaires being used. The purpose of this qualitative study was to develop a window to the semi-structured questionnaire. Interviews with individuals completing semi-structured questionnaires, which were introduced in a questionnaire on driver safety, provided a wealth of data regarding the comprehension and usefulness of the questionnaire. Data were obtained from eight participants, who completed the questionnaire twice, at home and in a clinical examination. The results show that the participants were familiar with the questionnaire and indicated that they had problems understanding the wording and layout of the questions. The window to the semi-structured questionnaire provided a mechanism for monitoring the subject's comprehension and usefulness of the questions.• All the latest news from Riverside Park
